Would you like gravy with your grasshoppers?
If you haven’t had time to keep up with Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, we’ve done it for you…
No, we’ve not gone mad – we’re just asking the question you might hear at restaurants in the very near future, as it’s predicted we might all have to start including insects as part of our natural diet. Stefan Gates, author of new book Insects: An Edible Guide, believes that the world can’t sustain our current level of meat consumption – basically, we might run out of it. So, instead, he thinks we should get used to eating creatures like grasshoppers, worms, moths and ants. Gates claims that earthworms taste ‘sugary’, midges are ‘slightly nutty’, and Colombian ants taste like ‘smoky bacon crisps’. While it’s something every contestant on I’m A Celebrity… inevitably has to try, would you be prepared to swap beef for bugs, or lamb for larvae?! Let us know! WHAT DO YOU THINK?
