1 The X Factor SATURDAY AND SUNDAY, ITV, 8PM

NEW SERIES It’s that time of year again… the return of the singing competitio­n that – love it or hate it – gets everyone talking! This series is number 14, and a host of stars from One Direction to Olly Murs and Little Mix all owe their fame, and fortune, to Simon Cowell’s TV talent show. This year, Simon’s back with fellow judges Nicole Scherzinge­r, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne, and host Dermot O’Leary. There will be some surprises in store, too. We’ll see some younger contestant­s, as the age limit has been lowered to 15, and some of the previous features have been revamped. The maestro himself said, ‘I think if you make the same show each year, it becomes predictabl­e. Some ideas we’ve got for the live shows [this year] are going to be good.’ Bring it!

2 Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls TUESDAY, CHANNEL 4,

9.15PM NEW SERIES The celebs getting away from it all – but not to the lap of luxury – include Ryan Thomas, Lucy Mecklenbur­gh, Olympian Sharron Davies and broadcaste­r Iwan Thomas. Stranded on a remote island for four weeks, the aim of the game is survival.

3 Married To A Celebrity: The Survival Guide TUESDAY, CHANNEL 4, 10.20PM

Can you imagine Joan Collins snoring? Well, apparently she does – and loudly! This revelation comes from her hubby, Percy, in this no-holds-barred show in which celeb partners reveal what drives them mad about their other halves – Freddie Flintoff’s wife can’t believe he wears his Fitbit during sex! The British public share their relationsh­ip gripes, too. 4 Diana: The Day Britain Cried TUESDAY, ITV, 8PM Kate Winslet narrates this documentar­y that tells the story of the event that brought Britain to a standstill – Diana’s funeral. People who took part in planning the day speak for the first time about the harrowing ceremony that enabled a heartbroke­n nation to say goodbye to the People’s Princess. Tissues at the ready… 5 Saturday Morning With James Martin SATURDAY, ITV, 9.30AM NEW SERIES A two-hour show from James’s own home, where each week he welcomes celebrity guests, including Carol Kirkwood and Gareth Malone, and cooks up a storm in his fabulous kitchen.
