GRIPPED BY THE DRAMA OF GAME OF THRONES?

Go to… Dubrovnik This medieval Croatian city is the setting for King’s Landing, home to the scheming Lannisters. Inside its 14th-century walls is a labyrinth of tiny lanes, stone houses and defence turrets. The main street, Stradun, is lined with shops, restaurants and cafés. Walk round the top of the city walls for a bird’s-eye view of Dubrovnik’s beautiful terracotta rooftops. Or catch a ferry to nearby Lokrum island, where the historic monastery has a museum which details the filming of GOT, complete with a replica Iron Throne to pose for pictures on!

HOW TO DO IT: British Airways ( ba. com), easyJet (easyjet.com) and Monarch (monarch.co.uk) fly from UK airports direct to Dubrovnik. Visit secretescapes.com to find a hotel; they offer up to 70 per cent off.

FELL MADLY IN LOVE WITH LOVE ISLAND?

Head to… Majorca Who could fail to have been seduced by the sun, sea, and sand of the north-east coast of this beautiful Balearic island? The Love Island villa, which spawned relationships between Kem and Amber (above), Olivia and Chris, and even Marcel and Gabby, was located up in the hills, on the outskirts of the sleepy town of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar. Check out the stylish Hotel Can Solaies for a dinner to remember – it’s where Johnny and Camilla went for a date, and where Montana and Amber had cocktails. The nearby, buzzy beach town of Cala Millor has plenty to offer holidaymakers, from golden sands to watersports, as well as shops, restaurants, bars and cafés galore; perfect for spotting any Islanders who come back to relive their romances!

HOW TO DO IT: Three nights at the 4T Protur Playa Cala Millor costs from £285 on a half-board basis, including flights from London Luton on 18 October, thomson.co.uk
