‘It’s a new start – for them and for me!’

-

KayBeaver, 55, from Milton Keynes, is mum to Clint, 35, Echo, 32, Milo, 26, Disney, 25, and Dali, 21.

I’ve always wanted my kids to find their own way in the world. That’s exactly why I gave them unusual names – so they’d be independent.

So, when it was time for them to move out, it was a cause for celebration, not commiseration.

Clint went first, off to university, then Echo, Milo and Disney left to live with their partners. Dali has just bought his first home, so he’s gone, too.

I’m so proud of them, and I know that moving out is just another chapter in their lives. And, to be honest, it’s a new start for me, too.

I was only 19 when I fell pregnant with Clint, and I’ve always loved having a big family. But now, I’m also loving my freedom.

I’ve redecorated the whole house pink – just because I could. I can watch what I want on TV, the house is always tidy and I can do anything I feel like doing. And, as I broke up with their father 13 years ago, I might even meet a new man!

Clint has moved to London to become a film director, but the rest have stayed local, so I see them regularly. I think I have the best of both worlds!
