Ring-less and ready to move on?
They were childhood sweethearts and she is pregnant with their fourth child – yet Coleen and Wayne Rooney’s marriage has never faced a bigger crisis.
Liverpudlian WAG Coleen, 31, was humiliated last month when Wayne, also 31, was pulled over for drink-driving – with single mother Laura Simpson, 29, in the car. Miss Simpson said it was all ‘ harmless fun’ – but added she was sure they’d have ended up in bed had they not been interrupted. Coleen promptly left the family home, taking the couple’s three sons, Kai, seven, Klay, four, and Kit, one. Since then, while Wayne continues to wear his wedding band, Coleen’s been seen without her eye-catching £450,000 wedding and engagement rings. When Wayne attended court to face the drink-driving charges, Coleen was nowhere to be seen.
‘She told him that there was no way she was going to put on a nice outfit, smile and play the dutiful wife,’ a source has said.
She also amended social media profile pictures, removing her husband altogether, opting instead for images of just her and her sons. She recently shared one of herself, minus the wedding rings, alongside her two youngest, captioning it, ‘A day out at Blackpool is always fun!’
It’s not the first time Wayne has betrayed her ( he admitted to visiting a brothel in 2004, and having a threesome with former escorts Helen Wood and Jennifer Thompson in 2010). But the difference? It looks like Coleen’s not prepared to be a pushover any more.
Wayne, now banned from driving for two years, is said to be attempting to win his furious wife back by taking her on cinema dates. But it might take more than a night at the movies…
