MICHELLE’S MARRIAGE MAYHEM ‘I’m too busy’
She’s only two years into her marriage with husband Mark Wright, but Michelle Keegan, 30, doesn’t see her other half regularly, as the couple pursue careers on opposite sides of the world. In August, Mark, also 30, announced he was joining his ‘dream team’ to present US entertainment show Extra alongside Mario Lopez. But, as the former TOWIE star moved Stateside, time with Michelle has taken a back seat. Filming the third season of the BBC’s Our Girl has taken Michelle to Nepal and Kuala Lumpur this year, and kept her from joining her husband in Hollywood. Now back in the UK, the ex- Coronation Street actress is as busy as ever. As well as promoting the show, Michelle’s working on a clothing collection with Very, and is currently gracing the cover of Women’s Health. With hectic schedules keeping them apart, Mark has been publicly pining for his wife, even as he rubs shoulders with Hollywood heavyweights such as Liam Neeson and Mariah Carey.
‘My wife’s away working. We can’t get to each other right now because she’s working solidly every day like I am,’ he said. He wrote on Instagram, ‘Bored!! Nothing is good without you!! Hollywood club or not, just the same. 2 months hurry up.’
Michelle, meanwhile, hasn’t shared a picture with her husband on social media since May.
‘It’s hard being away from him [while I’m filming]. Really hard,’ Michelle said.
On kids, she admits, ‘ We’ve not planned anything and, realistically, nothing can happen right now because I’m too busy.’
Even when they’re both at home, the couple face long-distance romance, hailing from opposite ends of the country. ‘I’ve loved being in Essex with Mark’s family… but there’s no place like home,’ Michelle said of her native Manchester.
It’s undoubtedly a trying set-up. With so much travel back and forth just to see each other – and no imminent plans to live closer – could travel mayhem prove too much for Mark and Michelle?
