Forget Dakota Johnson’s rumoured romance with Chris Martin – it’s Mr Grey’s voice that’s got us weak at the knees
Rumour has it Dakota Johnson is stepping out with Chris Martin – but her Fifty Shades co-star Jamie Dornan could give the Coldplay rocker a run for his money!
Northern Irish hunk Jamie, 35, who plays the handsome-but-damaged Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades franchise, adapted from EL James’s erotic novels, is not only set to get hearts all aflutter (again) in the film, but also lends his voice to the soundtrack.
Dakota, 28, who plays his wife-to-be in the third and final film in the trilogy, Fifty Shades Freed, is reportedly dating Coldplay frontman Chris, 40 – so the comparison between Dakota’s two men on the rock-star credentials front could have proved a tad embarrassing for Jamie.
But it turns out the Belfast hunk’s offering is anything but cringeworthy. Jamie contributes to the bonus track on the soundtrack, which is scheduled for a Valentine’s Day release like the film and includes songs from Sia, Ellie Goulding and a duet by Rita Ora and Liam Payne.
And it’s gold. The father -of-two sings a gorgeous cover of Paul McCartney’s classic love song Maybe I’m Amazed – and amazed we were! Jamie’s vocals are everything you’d hope them to be.
The track includes heartfelt lyrics like, ‘Baby, I’m a man, Maybe I’m a lonely man who’s in the middle of something that he doesn’t really understand,’ and ‘Maybe I’m amazed at the way I really need you.’
And if you’re thinking it sounds pretty Fifty Shades – in fact, it’s the very song twisted, domineering Grey chooses to sing to Anastasia.
Perhaps it’s no surprise that Jamie, who is married to British actress and musician Amelia Warner, can hold his own on the film’s soundtrack. He has a musical past, and before shooting to fame in Belfast-based thriller The Fall, the former model was in a rock band called Sons Of Jim.
So just to recap, the man with the amazing abs doesn’t only smoulder with intent – he can sing, too! Any more hidden talents we need to know about, Mr Grey?
