Susannah! Lighter than Trinny. ‘How I dropped four dress sizes’

The TV star reveals the extreme lengths she’s gone to drop FOUR dress sizes...

For years, What Not To Wear

presenter Susannah Constantine, who co-hosted with her pal Trinny Woodall, was famed for being the curvier of the pair. Just last year, all bravado, she told best, ‘I don’t care what I look like any more!’ But evidently, that wasn’t quite true...

Susannah, 55, has unveiled a whole new body. She has lost over 1 ½ st in 10 weeks – that’s a staggering four dress sizes – and now weighs less than Trinny.

Speaking about her transformation, Susannah explained, ‘In just three months, I’ve lost a stone and a half of flab. A caterpillarstyle transformation from a lardy, puffed-up size 16 to a curvy size 10/12. Trinny is a skinny size 8, it’s true, but her extra inches of height mean I’m definitely lighter.’

So what spurred on Susannah’s shape-up, and how did she achieve her new look?

The light-bulb moment, she explained, came after spotting some seriously unflattering photos of herself, forcing her to confront her appearance.

‘I resembled a tug boat. To be blunt, I was a fat hippo,’ she admitted.

Her 14-year-old daughter Cece’s comments didn’t help matters, either. Susannah recalled, ‘I stepped into the bath, only to hear her remark through the door that I’d better let some water out first.’ Talk about tough love! In a desperate bid to ‘ battle the bulge’, Susannah signed up to an epic fitness challenge for upcoming TV show Famously Unfit... For Sport Relief (Sunday 18 March, BBC Two).

After having tests, Susannah discovered that she was in the ‘obese’ weight range. As a result, she threw herself into a series of intense fitness challenges – from playing with the Saracens Women’s rugby team to gruelling, highintensity training with a personal trainer that actually left her ‘vomiting’.

The star – who exercised five to six times a week, as well as doing 10,000 steps a day – overhauled her eating habits, too.

Clearly, it’s been worth the hard slog. ‘I’ve kept away from the chocolate stash, although I do allow myself a small packet of Twiglets a day and a spoonful of honey in my tea,’ she said. ‘I weighed 11st 12lb when I started all this, now I’m a healthy 10st 6lb.’

And doesn’t she look great?!
