An absolute honour
I was born in the 60s and my dad, Danny, was – like Michael Caine – a sharply dressed 20-something from London with a cockney accent, who saw no reason why his generation couldn’t ‘ have it all’.
Some of my fave childhood memories were watching films as a family that starred Sir Michael, such as Zulu and Alfie.
At 17, Educating Rita made me cry, and much later – after I’d lost my dad – just hearing that familiar voice was enough to make me smile.
The actor’s latest film, My Generation, has been described as ‘a big sloppy kiss to the 60s’ – and we were lucky enough to chat with the great man himself (p52). It was an absolute honour.
