1 Urban Myths: Marilyn Monroe and Billy Wilder SKY ARTS AND NOW TV, THURSDAY, 9PM NEW SERIES

A gorgeous Gemma Arterton piles on the glamour to play the ultimate screen icon – doomed Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe. It’s 1959, and tensions are rising on the set of classic comedy Some Like It Hot. Marilyn, playing ditzy Sugar Kane, constantly forgets her lines and struggles to make it to the set on time. Director Billy Wilder (James Purefoy) is left tearing his hair out over his troubled leading lady. Meanwhile, Monroe’s husband, Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott) can’t stop himself from interferin­g. It’s the first of eight new episodes in a series that recreates moments from the lives of icons such as David Bowie, Agatha Christie, Marc Bolan of T. Rex and the stars of Live Aid.

2 Britain’s Got Talent ITV, SATURDAY, 8PM NEW SERIES

It always causes a bit of a stir and, this year in particular, all eyes will be on Britain’s Got Talent as it returns with a solo Dec, hosting without Ant. However, the judges are back, including Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon, and there will doubtless be performanc­es ranging from the brilliant to the bonkers.

3 Nightmare Pets: SOS MONDAY, BBC TWO, 8.30PM

Pesky pets running rings around their humans include Archie the parrot, whose biting has sent his owner to A&E; Pupagano, a pooch with anxiety issues, and a puss with a peeing problem. Sent to animal boot camp, can they be cured by intensive rehab?

4 Zoë Ball On Saturday And Sunday ITV, NEW SERIES, 8.30AM

Zoë and morning TV are a tried-and-tested combo, so it’s fab to see her back hosting this show across the weekend. A mix of music, comedy and celebrity guests, it is, says Zoë, a ‘one-stop show for all you need in the world of entertainm­ent and leisure’. She’s ‘super excited’. As are we!

5 The Keith & Paddy Picture Show SATURDAY, 9.25PM NEW SERIES

Keith Lemon and Paddy McGuinness recreate top movies like Grease and The Terminator. Amanda Holden pops up in Pretty Woman, and the Top Gun love scene is revisited, using ‘stunt’ tongues!
