1 Ur­ban Myths: Mar­i­lyn Mon­roe and Billy Wilder SKY ARTS AND NOW TV, THURS­DAY, 9PM NEW SE­RIES

A gor­geous Gemma Arter­ton piles on the glam­our to play the ul­ti­mate screen icon – doomed Hollywood ac­tress Mar­i­lyn Mon­roe. It’s 1959, and ten­sions are ris­ing on the set of clas­sic com­edy Some Like It Hot. Mar­i­lyn, play­ing ditzy Sugar Kane, con­stantly for­gets her lines and strug­gles to make it to the set on time. Di­rec­tor Billy Wilder (James Pure­foy) is left tear­ing his hair out over his troubled lead­ing lady. Meanwhile, Mon­roe’s hus­band, Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott) can’t stop him­self from in­ter­fer­ing. It’s the first of eight new episodes in a se­ries that recre­ates mo­ments from the lives of icons such as David Bowie, Agatha Christie, Marc Bolan of T. Rex and the stars of Live Aid.

2 Bri­tain’s Got Tal­ent ITV, SATUR­DAY, 8PM NEW SE­RIES

It al­ways causes a bit of a stir and, this year in par­tic­u­lar, all eyes will be on Bri­tain’s Got Tal­ent as it re­turns with a solo Dec, host­ing with­out Ant. How­ever, the judges are back, in­clud­ing Amanda Holden and Ale­sha Dixon, and there will doubt­less be per­for­mances rang­ing from the bril­liant to the bonkers.

3 Night­mare Pets: SOS MON­DAY, BBC TWO, 8.30PM

Pesky pets run­ning rings around their hu­mans in­clude Archie the par­rot, whose bit­ing has sent his owner to A&E; Pu­pagano, a pooch with anx­i­ety is­sues, and a puss with a pee­ing prob­lem. Sent to an­i­mal boot camp, can they be cured by in­ten­sive re­hab?

4 Zoë Ball On Satur­day And Sun­day ITV, NEW SE­RIES, 8.30AM

Zoë and morn­ing TV are a tried-and-tested combo, so it’s fab to see her back host­ing this show across the week­end. A mix of mu­sic, com­edy and celebrity guests, it is, says Zoë, a ‘one-stop show for all you need in the world of en­ter­tain­ment and leisure’. She’s ‘su­per ex­cited’. As are we!

5 The Keith & Paddy Picture Show SATUR­DAY, 9.25PM NEW SE­RIES

Keith Le­mon and Paddy McGuin­ness recre­ate top movies like Grease and The Ter­mi­na­tor. Amanda Holden pops up in Pretty Woman, and the Top Gun love scene is re­vis­ited, us­ing ‘stunt’ tongues!
