Clingy Victoria: ‘You’re making a fool of yourself’
Having been forced to deny marriage troubles yet again, David and Victoria Beckham are putting on a united front by taking a family holiday in Croatia.
But despite the show of togetherness, some fans have been questioning if the break-up rumours really are as ‘laughable’ as the couple claim.
When Britain’s most famous couple – apart from the Royals, of course – were spotted at daughter Harper’s sports day in London recently, Victoria, 44, appeared keen to ramp up the PDAs to show her marriage is stronger than ever.
But David, 43, seemed more interested in the races. Appearing in pics that showed the former footballer on his phone – and hardly engaging with Victoria – online users were quick to notice.
‘He’s shaming her publicly and she’s making a fool of herself by being all over him, when it’s obvious he isn’t bothered,’ said one. ‘Clearly staged’; ‘one-sided’; ‘embarrassing’, and ‘he doesn’t look remotely interested in her,’ were other comments.
Body language expert Mike Carter ( bodylanguageworkshops.com) agrees that the couple’s body language in these photos gives rise to questions. ‘In the first picture, David’s folded arms suggest a lack of openness and interest,’ he says. ‘The top half of his body is also very stiff. His weight is on his right leg nearest to Victoria; it’s another little sign that he’s rejecting her rather desperate desire for affection.
‘But the real giveaway that something is wrong is the angle of the feet,’ Mike adds. ‘ When we’re genuinely interested in someone, we point our feet toward them. The opposite is going on here.’
Of the second photo, Mike says, ‘David’s body is turned away from Victoria, but what’s most revealing is the angle of his shoulders. He’s hunched over, in what seems to be an attempt to hide something. Meanwhile, Victoria’s strained neck is very accusational.’
The following day, Victoria posted a gushing Instagram post to celebrate their 19th wedding anniversary. ‘I love u so much x,’ she wrote.
Some fans offered their congratulations – but not everyone was convinced. One fan asked the star directly on her Instagram, ‘ Why are you always the one showing David the affection? It just never seems reciprocated.’
Indeed, David features regularly on Victoria’s social
