It’s not always the paradise it’s cracked up to be, and former air stewardess Laura Anderson has had a tough time on reality TV show LoveIsland. Initially, happily coupled up with Wes Nelson (20), the 29-year-old even discussed marriage in the Majorcan
villa, until he unceremoniously dumped her for blonde bombshell Megan Barton-Hanson (24).
She picked herself up and found romance again – yet heartbreak struck last week, when she was dumped by new love Jack Fowler, 22. Things look brighter, but Laura’s sister, Danielle Strang, 38, watching from Dubai, admits it’s been ‘tough’ to watch… How do you feel Laura’s doing in the villa? She’s had a roller-coaster journey! But she’s doing us all proud. She can handle it, but it’s hard to see her going through the mill. For instance, when [now dumped] islander Idris Virgo said it looked like Jack kissed Georgia first, I was like, ‘For goodness sake, don’t start this up again!’ I could see she was shaken. She’d just had enough. It was tough to see.
How did you think she handled being dumped by Wes?
Amazingly. If she was holding a grudge against Wes or Megan, it’d bring her down. But she had genuine feelings for Wes.
Does she feel insecure in there?
All girls compare the bits they don’t like to other girls. But Laura is self-assured. If she thought someone was beautiful, she’d say.
How has she handled break-ups outside the villa?
A few have been really hard. It’s taken her a while to bounce back, but she always does. I’m not saying she has bad feelings towards any of the guys – and I don’t think they’d say anything bad about her.
Laura’s been trolled about looking older – will she be hurt when she sees that?
It was hard reading those comments in the beginning, but I knew everyone would like her as time went on. Her age is a good thing, because she’s got a wise head on her shoulders, and she understands to ignore trolls.
What will she make of all the support she’s had?
I think it will humble her so much. We’re team Laura all the way!
