Andrea: Why she’s turning her back on hubby No3

She’s only just married, so why is Andrea McLean turning her back on her husband?

- WORDS: KELLY ALLEN

She hasn’t even been married a year, but Andrea McLean almost left fans panicking that her marriage to Nick Feeney had lost its spark.

The 48-year-old made the shock admission that their bedtime routine isn’t all swinging from chandeliers. In fact, she confessed that, come bedtime, she turns her back to her husband, rolls over and goes to sleep, while he watches television.

The presenter said the honeymoon period was over because, ‘ You know you’re “proper married” when you lie next to each other happily not speaking, me on my phone, him watching a film on his iPad wearing headphones.

‘Then I roll over and pull some knickers over my head to block out the glare from his iPad. And we both think, “This is OK.”’

Fans rushed to warn the twice-divorced star to be careful after her confession. One said, ‘Sounds like the start of a slippery slope.’ Another added, ‘This is where my marriage started to end.’

But hopefully it’s just Andrea, who married Nick last November after four years together, settling into the contentment of married life. And she revealed that businessman Nick is also relaxed about their bedroom routine.

Andrea has even admitted, ‘Once you marry a Loose Woman, you have to become a Loose Man – that’s how it goes. He’s super-chilled about it. He’s the most relaxed person I know.’

The TV star is determined to make her third marriage work. She was previously married to Steve Toms, but they split in 2012. Andrea left her first husband, BBC producer and her childhood sweetheart Nick Green, in 2003 after just three years of marriage.

When Andrea met Nick, she was at a low ebb, as she was going through an early menopause following a hysterectomy, while he was recovering from the collapse of his marriage.

‘ We went straight into seeing each other at our absolute lowest and we both got better,’ she said. ‘Now it’s great. Sometimes it can happen the other way around, with wine and roses, and everyone showing their best side, but we met showing our worst sides.’

It sounds like everything in the garden is actually pretty rosy for Andrea and Nick – even when she’s wearing pants on her head…
