SIMPLE SOLUTIONS FOUND IN OILS

Essential oils are concentrated aromatic liquids extracted from the seeds, leaves, stems, bark, flowers or fruits of plants.

Each one of them offers different health benefits and – as regular readers know – I prefer them when they’re organic with no added chemicals.

When used in massage they contain properties to alleviate pain, their tiny molecules penetrating into our cells to begin healing.

Not oily or greasy, they stimulate circulation, encourage cell regeneration, relieve muscle soreness, fight bacteria and stimulate the immune system.

When we use them to scent a room, the smell makes the brain react as the molecules travel to the lungs and bloodstream to improve health.

Here are a few favourites and their uses:

Lemon, valerian, lavender, rose and clary sage for insomnia. Rosemary, when added to your shampoo, improves scalp circulation, fights dandruff and improves coloured hair quality. Eucalyptus is an antibacterial analgesic, used to relieve the symptoms of coughs and colds. Ylang ylang helps you to connect emotionally and spiritually to your inner self to heal emotional trauma. Bergamot can help relieve panic attacks. It’s good for promoting calm and relieves stress. It’s also recommended for those suffering from seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Orange oil is another powerful antidepressant. My favourite is putting a few drops of eucalyptus oil on the cardboard bit of your toilet roll – happy smelling! You can find excellent organic oils on angiebestwellbeing.com.
