This soup maker is very easy to use and features a useful built-in cleaning programme. With three automatic settings to choose from, including Purée, Chunky and Blend, it produces excellent soup, but it’s not suitable for blending small quantities. 82/100
Tefal Easy Soup Maker BL841140, £84.99, lakeland.co.uk
This was singled out for being easy to use. It produced soups with a good consistency and no leakage! It offers a built-in cleaning programme and an automatic keepwarm mode which runs for 40 minutes. Disappointingly, it’s not suitable for small quantities of blending. 76/100
Cuisinart Soup Maker Plus SSB3U, £140, cuisinart.co.uk
A sturdy and reliable soup maker, but it does come at a steep price. This performed well when used to blend milkshakes and batter, and produced delicious soup, too. However, we did find residue got easily trapped below the blades, so it was a little harder to clean. 76/100

This machine looks great, there are lots of settings and it’s easy to use, but you can’t adjust the time or temperature for the soup programme. As a blender, it performed well and making soup is fast, but pre-cooking is required. 81/100

This soup maker is speedy as well as efficient, and produced delicious soup in just over 20 minutes. With its 1.6 litre capacity, it can serve up to four people, and it offers four programmes to choose from including Smooth, Chunky, Juice and Blend. 80/100

A powerful, goodperforming appliance. It produced glossy batter, finely chopped breadcrumbs and a fantastic aromatic butternut squash soup. You can keep an eye on how long your dish has left thanks to the LCD timer located on the front, and you can also gradually add ingredients through the pouring lid. It is easy to use and would make for a reliable, basic soup maker. 74/100
