HOW IT WORKS
Don’t you hate it when you toss and turn all night long, but can’t get a decent night’s kip? An estimated third of all Brits will have insomnia at some point* and not get the recommended seven to nine hours’ sleep a night.
Did you know that making sure you eat and drink well throughout the day will help? We’ve put together a sound-sleep plan that could help you to shed a few pounds, too. We recommend you also try our tips ( below).
TOP 10 SLEEP BOOSTERS
1. Wake up and go to bed at the same time every day.
2. Go outside to help set your body clock, and try a little exercise.
3. Limit caffeine and ditch it by lunchtime. 4. Limit sugar. 5. Reduce carbs at dinner, or the sugar rise-and-dip can disturb sleep. Eat at least three hours before bed.
6. Try using a meditation app to wind down.
7. Turn off all screens an hour before bed.
8. Make a cup of chamomile tea – studies show it can help you to nod off.
9. Make sure your bedroom is dark and quiet.
10. Invest in a comfy mattress, pillows and covers.
GETTING STARTED
l Follow our plan for two weeks. It includes one breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks a day. l Your daily milk allowance is 250ml skimmed milk. l Aim to drink at least eight glasses of fluid daily, including water and decaffeinated tea and coffee (with milk from your allowance).
