Fly to see the stunning Northern Lights
Experience Mother Nature’s unforgettable light show on this unique flight – you won’t even need to pack a suitcase
Seeing the magical Northern Lights illuminate the night sky, north of the Arctic Circle, is a beautiful experience that should be on everybody’s bucket list. But, unfortunately, the freezing Arctic weather isn’t for everyone and travelling to the distant north, whether by land or sea, to witness them can be a tricky and expensive business. So, why not experience the breathtaking display from the comfort of a privately chartered plane?
Our sister brand, Prima Holidays, is offering best readers a dinner-andflight package, which will give you the chance to see the aurora borealis
from your seat on a three-hour round trip. Witnessing this from the comfort of a plane means there will be no interruption from cloud cover or from ground-based light pollution. Your Northern Lights adventure will begin at the Sofitel London Gatwick (flights are also available from Manchester) at around 5.30pm. You’ll be given two illustrated talks by top astronomers, including BBC’s The Sky At Night regular Pete Lawrence, who will explain what creates nature’s otherworldly light show. You’ll then enjoy a threecourse dinner before boarding your flight into the star-filled sky. After around three hours, the aircraft will turn around and tea and coffee will be served as you fly back, discussing the incredible sights you’ve witnessed, for an arrival back at your chosen airport between 10pm and 11pm.
THE ULTIMATE LIGHT SHOW
High above the clouds and with no light pollution, you’ll have the best chance possible to see a dazzling display of the Northern Lights. Your view will be further enhanced as the cabin lights are turned off for part of your flight to allow your eyes to adapt to the conditions and optimise your view outside the cabin.
UNIQUE ADVENTURE
You’ll experience an unforgettable atmosphere on the plane as you and your fellow passengers work together to ensure everyone gets a turn in the window seat to witness
THE SAVVIEST WAY TO SEE THE AURORA BOREALIS
the beautiful display. Meanwhile, your two special-guest experts will be on hand to give you a unique guided tour of the night sky.
