Tough-talking Karren Brady: ‘Get over yourself Coleen!’
The Apprentice’s tough-talking Karren Brady has harsh words for Coleen Rooney
‘The lengths Coleen went to suggest she has too much time on her hands’
Karren Brady is famed for her no-nonsense approach to contestants on The Apprentice. But she’s not afraid to tell it like it is when it comes to celebrities, either.
And in a recent column, she had her aim firmly trained on Liverpool-born WAG Coleen Rooney – or ‘ Wagatha Christie’ – as she’s been dubbed on social media.
Unless you’re a hermit with no TV, you’ll know that the celebrity spat of the year involves Coleen, who claimed in a sensational Twitter post that she’d discovered the source of the person selling stories about her personal life ‘for a few years now’.
Dramatically, she claimed the stories were being leaked from Rebekah Vardy’s Instagram account.
Rebekah has strongly denied being the source. But this drama is nowhere near its conclusion. Both women are now communicating via lawyers, and Rebekah has warned: ‘Believe me or I’ll see you in court.’
But Karren has slammed footballer Wayne Rooney’s wife for starting all this, saying ‘paranoid’ Coleen has ‘too much time on her hands’ and needs to ‘get over herself’.
Asking why she didn’t decide to settle this privately with a phone call, Karren said Coleen may have grabbed the world’s attention, but not in the way she might have hoped.
‘It gives us a real insight into the reality of fame and the obsessive paranoia that can go with it,’ said Karren. ‘Coleen has forgotten that public spats, especially those waged on social media, never end well.
‘All too often, they reflect badly on BOTH parties. And
they can lead to a social media pile-on that seriously affects people’s lives.’
Indeed, that’s already playing out in real time. Rebekah, who is seven months pregnant, was pictured returning from her holiday in Dubai in tears and has been trolled horribly, with some sick people even attacking her unborn baby online.
Karren went further, questioning Coleen’s decision to play detective: ‘ Why bother laying an elaborate trap to catch the culprit if the main objective is to stop it happening and get negative people away from you?
‘To me, it feels very teenagerish, the sort of thing you do in school, not when you are a grown woman with four kids. The lengths Coleen went to suggest she has a bit too much time on her hands.’
Karren slammed Coleen further, writing: ‘Perhaps this is a by-product of an obsession with your privacy – when you want it, that is, and not when you are selling your wedding photos to glossy celebrity magazines.
‘ You develop such a high opinion of yourself that you truly believe the world and his wife are on tenterhooks about the latest minutiae of your domestic life.
‘Really, Coleen just needs to get over herself.’
