Backstabbing and bust-ups at TV: One big happy family?
Rumours abound there’s no love lost between some of ITV’s presenters, so are they...
Daytime TV’s golden couples - Holly and Phil and Ruth and Eamonn – have found themselves at the centre of a ‘civil war’ behind the scenes of This Morning.
According to former Lorraine showbiz reporter, Dan Wootton, 36, Loose Women anchor Ruth Langsford and her hubby Eamonn Holmes snubbed the recent ITV Christmas party because of their worn relationship with Phil, and apparently, it’s not just those two who have been trying to avoid the silver fox recently.
In Dan’s column last week, he reported: ‘Phil’s professional relationship with close friend, Holly, has become strained in recent months. We can also disclose that the show’s Friday presenter, Ruth, has made an official complaint about Phillip, 57. It follows Britain’s Got Talent Judge Amanda Holden’s allegation that Phillip got her banned from presenting on the show.’
If even Phil’s famous sidekick Holly is turning on him, things clearly aren’t smooth sailing between the ITV crew right now.
The tables started to turn for Holly and Phil, according to the report, in May when Holly won a Bafta award in for filling in last year for Ant McPartlin on I’m A Celebrity… Wootton says dad-of-two Phil was ‘jealous’ and refused to celebrate her win on This Morning.
Meanwhile, controversial Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan recently joked on the ITV show that they’re all ‘one big happy family’!
‘I keep reading the papers about what a big happy family we all are – let’s share your awards from the NTAs and get a big collective win! I’d like to be joint winner at everything with Ant, Dec and Holly and Phil… you know, as we’re such a happy family…’ Hmm, sarcasm overload alert, Piers!
He may be seeing the funny side in all this, but we’re not too sure how much Ruth, Eamonn, Holly and Phil will appreciate the truth of their so-called toxic relationships out for the world to see.
Let’s just hope the festive season put some perspective on being kind to one another, and the ITV family begin the New Year with a fresh start… or is that just wishful thinking on our part?!
