‘ They’d say, “She’s failed again”’

When it comes to being open about her relationships, Ulrika Jonsson has never been backwards in coming forwards.
But the stunning Swede did raise eyebrows when she admitted that her marriage to third husband, advertising executive Brian Monet, 50, had come to an end – and that they’d only had sex once in eight-and-a-half years. Speaking about the painful split last May on Loose Women, the mum-of-five confessed that ‘every minute of every day was incredibly tough,’ adding that ‘the first torture was thinking about the children and then the second one was, “When this comes out... the papers, this is her third marriage, she has failed again…”.’ The 52-year-old admitted that, in the final stages of their marriage, she and Brian went to marriage counselling, describing it as her ‘last hope’. Sadly, her attempts to breathe new life into the relationship failed, and the couple called time on their union.
‘There are no winners in the demise of a marriage that has four children and has managed to survive the building of a house, family fallouts, moody teenagers and professional ups and downs,’ she admitted. At one stage, she revealed on Instagram that she was ‘struggling to get up in the mornings.’ But, after a period spent keeping her head down and licking her wounds, things are very much on the up for Ulrika. She recently revealed that she has a new relationship: ‘ Yes, folks! At 52, after a marriage set against a barren sexual landscape and five-year hiatus – I have had sex again!’
