John Barrowman: Breaking the Ice

As we find out who will be crowned winner of Dancing on Ice this Sunday, John Barrowman - in his final column, picks his winners…

MOST IMPRESSIVE MOVE

This one goes to Ben Hanlin. He was the first celebrity to do the headbanger. Others tried, but it didn’t have any ‘ bounces’ – so it wasn’t a real headbanger! When Ben did it, he was bouncing Carlotta up and down! (turn to page 50 for an interview with Ben). But it’s a tie with Perri, when he did the shopping trolley. Who knew you could do a dance with a shoppingtrolley?! Everyone will be going mad in the supermarket aisles now…

BIGGEST JOKER

It’s got to be Joe Swash. He’s a total joker and he has the best banter. Anytime you see Joe, he gives you a hug, a smile and a big kiss. Doesn’t matter who you are, or what your preferences, Joe’s in there snogging you! Joe’s like a Jack Russell on skates. Fine when he’s under control, but when he starts getting some speed, he’s like a deer in the headlights!

FUNNIEST MOMENT

Oh, this has to be Lisa George getting her skate caught under her chair, sliding, trying to get up and all of us not laughing at her, but laughing with her – you could see that moment when she just gave up and was like, f*** it! She almost flew into the rest of the set. Tom must have been thinking, ‘How do I get her out of this?!’ Hilarious!

BIGGEST FLIRT

Kevin Kilbane. He’s getting married after this show! OK, he wasn’t flirting with everyone, but he was flirting with one person in particular and wow, did that flirting pay off. His skating partner, Brianne, fell for those big, Bambi eyes and that charm! Kevin did his flirting in private, didn’t make a big deal of it, but man, did they both get the prize…

BIGGEST DIVA

She’s sassy, she’s not afraid to talk back, and if she doesn’t like something she’ll soon tell you (she was known to do so frequently, with her partner Alex, and Torvill and Dean!) – but she does it in the most charming way! So, the Biggest Diva Award – and I think everyone will agree – must go to Maura Higgins. She’s a deserving diva!
