Anthea Turner: The rocky road to sixty!
As Anthea Turner approaches the next decade of her life, the star reveals the upsides of ageing and why she’s taken the SAS challenge…
Last time we caught up with Anthea Turner, she was starting her 60th year and, jokingly, holding auditions for hubby number three.
It worked.
By the time she appeared on This Morning last week, she was happily engaged to tycoon Mark Armstrong, and looking far younger than her years.
Viewers took to Twitter with compliments such as, ‘Anthea Turner turning 60?! Does NOT look it...’ and ‘ Wow’.
The celebrity Queen of Clean is currently starring in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins (Channel 4, Mondays, 9pm) – which sees famous faces put through their paces by ex- Special Forces soldier Ant Middleton.
And, as she prepares to celebrates her big birthday on 25 May, Anthea admits she’s the oldest person to ever take part in the show, which this series includes Katie Price and former Strictly star Brendan Cole.
It was a gutsy decision, given that just a couple of years ago, Anthea was diagnosed with the bone condition, osteopenia. The stage before osteoporosis, it makes bones more fragile.
But rather than be put off by the gruelling challenges, a glowing Anthea confessed that, while her age ‘let me down a little’, being the oldest had positives.
‘I’ve watched the show before, soI knew what I was getting into. More importantly, I’m 60 this year. I’ve got this thing about every year now, trying to do something totally out of my comfort zone… and it was this!
‘There’s a maturity and a lot of life experience that I could pull from to get through the tasks. Even looking after people. We know more than we think – we’ve just never been tested, and this show is the ultimate test.’
Anthea has certainly had her share of experiences, including two high-profile divorces – but she ‘ learnt lessons’ from them.
