Holly shock: ‘I hate you all!’

Holly Willoughby, and frankly a lot of ThisMorning viewers, were left open-mouthed by the bizarre on-air antics from Phil and his friends last month…

-

ThisMorning ’s Holly Willoughby, 39, was on the verge of tears recently – but she couldn’t quite decide if they were tears of rage or laughter, thanks to her co-host Phillip Schofield.

During a special segment, where agony aunt and best columnist Vanessa Feltz asked viewers to call in with their concerns about home-schooling, things took a bizarre turn.

A caller named Roger phoned in with his 16-yearold son, explaining how he’s running a ‘tight ship’ during lockdown, demanding his son wear his school uniform in the house – even expecting him to raise his hand if he wants to ask a question.

When the doorbell rang, Roger placed the phone on to the side and went to answer it, but he could be heard flying off the handle at his wife for not going herself.

A horrified Holly put her hands over her mouth. She glanced at Phil and asked, ‘Should we leave it there?’ before the programme went to a break.

When the show came back on air, Holly said that it was clear tensions were running high in that household, but viewers could be assured that the show’s teams were talking to the family off-air and offering help.

At this point, Phil begins to snigger and shake his head. A bemused Holly glared at him, until he revealed that ‘Roger’ wasn’t ‘Roger’ at all – in fact, she’d just been on the receiving end of a prank call from comedian Bradley Walsh and his son, Barney.

‘That was not genuine, you have been done again,’ revealed Phil. ‘It was Bradley Walsh!’

Realisation suddenly dawning as the mischievous pair then appeared on a video link, Holly immediately screamed, ‘I hate you all…!’ before confessing, ‘Although, there is an element of relief... after that call.’

Some Twitter fans thought the call was funny, writing, ‘Best phone-in by far!’ while others weren’t impressed. ‘Not funny – I mean, at ALL.’

The prank comes a year after Holly had the wool pulled over her eyes during an April Fool’s prank, which left her in tears. Poor Holly was duped into believing that a guest on the show had hated a horrid makeover they’d given her, and that she’d later been involved in a minor car-crash outside the studio. Neither was true, but Holly joked she’d been left ‘damaged’ by the episode.

Now that she’s been well and truly ‘got’ again, maybe it’s about time Holly got her own back. Be afraid, Phil, be very afraid.
