‘I’m sick of it!’

One half of our favourite couple has spoken out – Judy Finnigan admits that she’s had just about ENOUGH of spending so much time locked down…

-

In the past couple of weeks, many of us have hit a ‘ wall’. After the hard slog of three long months spent mostly indoors, often separated from loved ones, many of us are now experiencing ‘lockdown fatigue’.

And Judy Finnigan is no exception. In a recent column, she admitted she was ‘more melancholy than happy’.

The former This Morning host, 72, had, she explained, enjoyed a nice afternoon with family – following the government’s relaxation of rules – meaning groups of up to six can meet outside.

‘Oh, it was lovely, seeing three of our children and our grandson for the first time in three months; eating a socially distanced picnic… in a sunny garden was as near-perfect as anything gets these days.’

But afterwards, Judy confessed, her mood plummeted – and she’d had enough of lockdown regulations. As well as those dishing them out. And we wouldn’t be surprised if she’d had enough of spending all that time with Richard.

As her hubby revealed recently, ‘Judy said she’s been fed up with talking to me, and only me, for the last few weeks.’

‘I felt impatient and cross,’ Judy lamented. ‘ What next? I certainly can’t see my other son, who lives in Manchester with our two small granddaughters, because staying the night away from our house is still verboten.

‘I’ve tried sternly telling myself I should be grateful for small mercies, but I can’t quell the rebellion brewing in my soul.’

She added, ‘I’ve had enough. I’m sick of being told the government’s “following the science” when as far as I can tell there’s precious little scientific consensus to be had… Ministers and scientists lecture us from their lecterns as if we’re threeyear-olds behaving badly!’

Defiant Judy likened her state of mind to the weather, at the time: ‘The clouds are gathering… It looks like a metaphor for shattered hopes…’

Oh, dear. Maybe a bit of sun will restore Judy’s hope for the future. As for the rest, no promises…!
