Amanda Holden’s marriage confessions

-

The striking pair – who tied the knot in 2008, after meeting in LA in 2003 – rarely talk about their relationship.

But in a recent interview, Amanda Holden couldn’t help but gush about her hubby, with whom she has daughters Hollie, eight, and Lexi, 14.

Branding Chris ‘strong’ and crediting him as the reason she’s able to ignore online trolls, the stunning mum-of-two revealed he’s kept her sane over the years.

‘I’ve got a very strong husband who is very sensible and not like me in any way, he cuts through all the bulls**t and keeps me sane,’ she said.

‘I’m so lucky that when I started out, social media wasn’t invented because I might not have got through it.’

She added, ‘Everything I have gone through since then has been massively public. It’s difficult, but I am very lucky because I’ve got a very strong relationship.’

And it seems their marriage has gone from strength to strength during lockdown, as the country continues to battle Covid-19.

‘This whole thing has been great for my marriage. I know people are talking about it causing spikes in baby-making and divorce rates but, for us, it has been brilliant.’

The mischievous Heart

Radio DJ jokingly added, ‘I’m too old for more babies, but our relationship is stronger than ever. It’s all about the lockdown loving.’

Revealing why she rarely posts about her beloved on social media, she explained, ‘ You’d never know it because whenever I post photos online Chris refuses to be in them – or he takes them – but getting all this time together for once has been great.’

‘I’m blessed having Chris, because he’s such a laugh, he’s like a stand-up comedian. Even in the darkest of hours, we will find something to laugh and smile about.’

While divorce rates may be going up (and who knows how much more steeply, after lockdown?), it doesn’t look like it’s anything these two have to worry about.

Here’s hoping it stays that way!

‘It’s all about the lockdown loving!’

y heart breaks for Kate and Gerry McCann. It’s a grief that never ends. Theirs is a torture. A living purgatory. A pain without end.

Not only do they not know whether their child is alive, they don’t know where she, or her remains, could be – or what really happened to her.

They also have had to live with the consequences of not being with Madeleine on the fateful night in Praia da Luz in 2007, when she went missing 13 years ago.

That must be the biggest burden of all. The what if ?

And yet, some people think they need to be reminded of that. I don’t think so.

Those are words that will never, ever have to be uttered. As if they don’t know. As if

two other children, twins Sean and Amelie, to raise.

Imagine what it’s been like to carry on with normal life. Schooling, supermarket shopping, earning a living, all while begging the UK and Europe to keep looking for their darling daughter?

We know that area of Portugal well, and have holidayed there every year, for more than 20 years. We had a child not dissimilar in age to Madeleine. We held him even tighter and watched him like a hawk after her disappearance. Pointing out her missing posters, and telling him the story. Every set of parents we knew was doing the same.

The only loss we officialdom the McCanns had to deal with, trying to recover the most precious belonging for any parent.

Now a man, Christian Brueckner, already in a German jail on an unrelated offence, may hold the answer.

The German authorities say they have concrete evidence that Madeleine is dead – but they cannot share it with either the British or Portuguese authorities, in case it compromises a case against Brueckner (though he recently, through his lawyer, denied any involvement in her disappearance).

Cruel though that may seem, Kate and Gerry McCann have not come this far to see a credible suspicion dismissed on a technicality.

But what I would say is this: If the German police are right and Madeleine is dead, whoever is eventually convicted of her abduction and killing should have a tougher sentence, and be held in harder and harsher conditions, if they don’t reveal where her little body is.

As the people who brought her into this world, and as religious people, Kate and Gerry McCann and their family at least deserve that chance to finally say goodbye.
