Will Kanye West run for President – and could that mean Kim Kardashian might become the next First Lady?
Just when you thought 2020 couldn’t get any more bizarre, eccentric US rapper Kanye West, 43, made his bid for US presidency last week. The unlikely challenger to the current holder of that title, Donald Trump – who Kanye has publicly supported in the past – chose American Independence Day to make his shock announcement on Twitter.
‘ We must now realise the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future… I am running for president of the United States. #2020VISION.’
His proud wife, reality star Kim Kardashian, 39, responded to Kanye’s tweet with an American flag.
And, while some fans made comments like, ‘Kanye is going to change the world… KANYE FOR PRESIDENT!’, others weren’t quite so kind. ‘This is not cool or funny’, wrote one. Another, ‘ You can’t be serious. This is a joke, right? Please, don’t vote for Kanye.’
It’s unclear whether the dad-of-four has actually filed any official paperwork regarding his shock announcement – or indeed, whether this is just one of his outrageous stunts.
But, after former star of
The Apprentice Trump won the White House in 2016, perhaps the idea of Kim – of
Keeping Up with the Kardashians fame – as First Lady isn’t such a crazy thought. Kanye and Kim have visited Trump before. Kim has visited several times, since she began studying to become a lawyer to lobby for prison reforms. At a 2018 meeting, the 21-time Grammy Award winner Kanye wore a red ‘Make America Great Again’ cap, claiming the President made him feel like Superman, as he hugged the world leader and declared, ‘I love this guy right here’.
Nobody can be sure of the next chapter in this strange story. But if ever there was a year in which Kanye West could end up becoming president of the United States, it’s probably this one.
When it comes to style and glamour, these two could rival the Kennedys. From Jackie to Kim K? Time will tell.
