Upset Denise: ‘I’m so angry!’

Loose Woman Denise Welch is far from happy about Covid-19. But the actress and mental health guru urges fans to stay calm...

Throughout lockdown, Denise Welsh has been using social media to vent her feelings about the Coronavirus crisis – once declaring she was turning into grumpy TV character Victor Meldrew!

Now, she has released her most impassioned rant yet – dismissing the entire situation as a ‘s***show’.

‘It is such a complete s***show. I am getting myself in such a state and so angry about everything that it is not doing me any favours,’ she confessed, in a video to her 140, 000 Instagram followers.

Instead of letting news raise her blood pressure, the ex- Corrie star, 62, who lives in Cheshire with husband Lincoln Townley, decided to seek out positivity.

‘So, I’ve been concentrating today on looking at all the amazing comments I’ve had from the people who’ve read my book,’ she declared. ‘I am patting myself on the back, as I feel I’ve done a good thing. I feel I’ve shared my story and I am helping people feel they are not alone.’

And indeed she has. Denise’s book, The Unwelcome Visitor, recounting her often dark experience of living with depression, has topped the bestseller lists. Many people have got in touch with her to say how invaluable they have found it. ‘So I am concentrating on that today. Don’t even get me going with the government guidelines in Greater Manchester, as my anger will come back,’ she added.

Earlier in the pandemic, Denise was branded a ‘Covid denier’, having expressed concerns about the effect the coverage would have on the millions, who like her, suffer from mental health issues. But she claims she is not underestimating the seriousness of the virus – just trying to keep it in perspective.

‘Just remember. This is not a second wave, it is just “a wave”. There are going to be increases and the government are going to overreact sometimes, and other times their reaction may be legitimate, but they are going to do it with three and a half seconds’ notice. And a lot of it will make no sense at all,’ she explained.

‘As long we can accept that – go along, live your life, do your distancing… I am not cynical, I am being as careful as everyone else,’ Denise added – before warning fans about letting fear rule their lives.

‘I am living without fear – as otherwise, that will drive us all into an early grave. So let’s all check in with each other regularly, and enjoy what you can enjoy and don’t worry about the rest.’
