Dancing duo Aaron and Jasmine tell Tony Cowell about making the BGT finals and an old celeb partner…
Sensational dance duo Aaron, 28, and Jasmine, 32 – who have both worked on Strictly – dazzled viewers and judges alike with their fiery Latin moves. In the semifinals, Amanda Holden had the casting vote and put them through to the finals after Ashley Banjo had praised the duo and offered some inspiring advice. Here, Aaron and Jasmine share their love of dance and open up about their hopes and dreams for the future...
Congrats on making the final – I loved your performance...
Aaron: Thank you – we wanted to try to lift our performance for the semis and come up with a bit more of a fiery show!
It was a bit touch and go at the end wasn’t it? But I think Amanda wanted you in the finals…
Aaron: Well, we were very honoured to get through. I think Amanda loves dance and we have a lot more to impress them with for our final performance. So they are going to see something they don’t expect.
Jasmine: Yes, and hopefully we can get all the judges to all agree this time. We want to show them what we do, that we can be original and clever.
In the semi-final you told the judges you hadn’t danced together since your first audition – is that right?
Aaron: Yes, because we hadn’t done any shows or performances. Being in lockdown there were no studios open, so we just had to keep fit and do some running. So, it was amazing to be reunited on stage together again.
What was it like dancing in front of Ashley Banjo – a top dancer himself?
Jasmine: He is one of Britain’s greatest dancers. He really knows everything about dance, so it was quite nerveracking to walk out there – which is why I gave him a little wink. We miss Simon, of course, and would have loved to know what he thinks about our dance.
Aaron, didn’t you once partner iconic actress Britt Ekland in a show?!
I did, yes, in the Swedish edition of Strictly Come Dancing! She was a lovely lady and we are still in touch. I loved dancing with her – she is a legend. She has been watching the show and supporting us.
