Move over Kardashians! Meghan Markle is the new momager in Tinseltown

As the Sussex family sign to Netflix, are we about to say goodbye Kardashians and hello to a new ‘momager’ in town?

-

It’s a mere two weeks since the Kardashian clan announced they were saying goodbye to their iconic reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in talks with Netflix about their own shows.

Friends of Meghan, 39, and Prince Harry, 36, deny they have agreed to star in a flyon-the-wall documentary, with cameras following them and their one-year-old son, Archie Harrison, for three months.

But it wouldn’t be inconceivable that the couple, now based in LA, might want to give people a glimpse into their charity work, which might be part of the rumoured £112m deal to make TV and films.

While fascinating, a reality show would seem an odd move considering their privacy battles with the press, and a spokesman for the couple has denied there is any truth to the making of such a show.

In April, Meghan launched a privacy lawsuit against the Mail on Sunday and its parent company, Associated Newspapers, for publishing a letter she wrote to her dad Thomas after her May 2018 wedding.

The idea of a potential reality show certainly divided fans on social media. One excited fan tweeted, ‘I’ve been waiting years for this… The Kardashians of Windsor!’

But another slammed, ‘Didn’t take her long to take the respected Royal Family and drag them through reality show mud! #incrediblysad – What happened to their privacy? It was just an excuse to leave.’

Given reports of supposed rifts between Harry and William, plus Meghan and Kate, as well as disapproval and upset amongst the Royal Family, on the couple’s decision to step away from Royal life, it would, if it were true, make mesmerising viewing – but no doubt be embarrassing for The Firm.

As for Netflix, it stated, ‘The couple have several projects in development, including an innovative nature documentary and an animated series that celebrates inspiring women. But we are not disclosing any of the programming slate.’ No matter what the programmes are, there is no denying Meghan Markle is well placed to take over from Kris Jenner as the family ‘momager’ and make her own fortune.
