Tales of the unexpected: ‘I dated & dumped a ghost’

Amethyst Realm has made the difficult decision to leave her supernatural would-be spouse…

-

What would you do if your other half started partying too hard, bringing uninvited guests back to your home, being inconsiderate and disappearing for long periods of time? Would you call off your engagement?

Well, that’s exactly what Amethyst Realm has done with her partner, Ray. Only he isn’t a conventional fiancé, he’s a phantom one. Because Ray is a spirit and here’s their supernatural story…

The pair met while Amethyst, now 32, was on holiday in Australia and was out in the bush, when she felt an incredible energy and knew that a new lover had arrived. After all, this wasn’t her first phantom fling.

The medium and spiritual counsellor from Bristol previously said: ‘Ghost lovers tend to be more sensual and adept than the average bloke. There’s always more of a connection, because the sex goes beyond physical. It’s like any other kind of sex. The main difference is I just can’t see them. I feel them, though, their weight against me, their touch, their warmth and energy that just sinks into me… Orgasms I have with my spirit lovers have been way more satisfying than any I’ve had with ordinary men.’

When she was due to leave Australia, Amethyst was heartbroken that it might mean leaving her ghostly love behind. Fortunately, during her flight home, she’d felt Ray again and the pair became members of the Mile High Club!

They communicated through energy, emotion and feelings and believed each other to be their soul mate. And nine months after their courtship – in October 2018 – the couple took a trip to Somerset and, at Ray’s insistence, went to Wookey Hole – the UK’s largest cave system. During the tour, Ray wanted to hang back and he proposed! ‘I could hear his voice and it was beautiful,’ Amethyst told a newspaper afterwards. ‘Deep, sexy and real.’

But true love never does run smoothly…

In a recent This Morning interview, Amethyst explained that during a trip the pair had taken together in Thailand, Ray’s behaviour had completely changed. ‘I think maybe he fell in with a bad crowd when we were on holiday,’ she said, explaining that she thought he’d started taking drugs. He brought other spirits back to where they were staying who hung around for days. ‘I’ve never had negative experiences with spirits before, but this felt pretty scary,’ she said.

Despite having planned a handfasting ceremony with Ray, and her sister agreeing to be a bridesmaid, after giving him multiple chances to change, Amethyst was left with no choice…

‘I ended up placing black tourmaline around the house, which keeps spirits away. I also did a sage cleansing, incantations… I just had to get rid of him, as you would

‘I feel their touch, their warmth and energy’

any other spirit, really,’ she told Phil and Holly on This Morning. When the interview cut out, Phil said: ‘That’s Ray!’

When later asked about whether she’ll have a human relationship in the future, Amethyst explained that she hasn’t been put off spirits, but was happy being ‘free and single’ at the moment. She mentioned that spirits are affected by Covid-19, too, and have to socially distance to stop themselves from getting ill.

Who knows… maybe she’ll meet someone at Halloween…?

EMILY IN PARIS Netflix

Lily Collins (Phil Collins’ daughter) plays Emily – a girl from America’s Midwest, hired to provide a US perspective at a marketing firm in Paris. It may seem like a girly cliché – but if escapism is what you want, this chic, stylish series will have you craving cheese, wine and a weekend break…
