Belfast still remains one of the UK’s hidden gems. Not only is it steeped in history and has striking scenery but it’s one of the friendlies­t places you can find – the perfect escape for good food, company and a bit of craic.

Find out about the most infamous doomed ocean liner at the world’s biggest Titanic Museum, and discover the history of the ship, which was built in shipyards in the east of the city.

Belfast also never shies away from its troubled past – it’s worth checking out the Black Taxi tour to learn about ‘ bombs, bullets and barricades’ visiting both sides of the divide as well as the poignant wall murals that chart the history of the city.

A 20-minute drive from Belfast is the seaside town of Newcastle, Co Down. Stay in the luxurious Slieve Donard Hotel and Spa for beautiful beach views and to see the Mourne Mountains, which sweep down to the Irish sea.
