Lorraine: Caroline Flack, Covid & me
Presenter Lorraine Kelly has hit back after being attacked in the vilest way on social media, following her Covid-19 jab…
Lorraine Kelly stunned viewers of her morning ITV show when she revealed that vicious social media trolls told her she was ‘going to die’ – after seeing footage of her receiving the OxfordAstraZeneca vaccine.
The straight-talking Scot – whose documentary on the 25th anniversary of the Dunblane tragedy moved many to tears – admitted to feeling ‘emotional’ after getting her first jab.
Speaking about her experience with ITV medic Dr Hilary Jones, aiming to reassure viewers about how smooth the process is, she revealed, ‘It’s just so quick and so easy. I felt my arm was a teeny, teeny bit sore, but that was it.’
A video of Lorraine receiving the vaccine was subsequently posted online – but she was hit with critical online reactions.
‘The reason we put stuff online is to encourage people to have the vaccine,’ she explained. ‘But I couldn’t believe the comments I got. There’s some seriously stupid people out there…
‘There are people who have obviously got concerns and I get them completely, but there’s (sic) different to having concerns and people saying to me “you are going to die...” I mean, come on.’
A dismayed Dr Hilary, who answers your health questions in his weekly column for best, was swift to slam the trolls.
‘There are some downright fantasists out there… This is not an experimental vaccine; 23 million people have been vaccinated with no major sideeffects. It’s a triumph. It really is.’
Lorraine announced her vaccination news by posting a snap of her registration card for the jab on Twitter.
She wrote on the social media site, ‘ Vaccinated! So relieved! Easy peasy – didn’t feel a thing – thanks so much to all the cheery volunteers and NHS staff who made it SO simple!
‘Please, please get vaccinated!! We are so lucky to have the opportunity Xxx.’
We hear you, Lorraine...
