Royal Easter with… the Queen, the Cornwalls & the Cambridges

Yet again, Easter will likely look a little different for all of us – the Royal Family included…

-

With nationwide restrictions easing but the country not yet out of lockdown, just how will Easter celebrations look for the Queen, the Cornwalls and the Cambridges?

Queen Elizabeth is expected to remain at Windsor Castle, where she has been isolating for most of the pandemic, with Prince Philip – who was recently discharged from hospital in London, following heart surgery.

Though she must be thrilled to have him back in time for the festivities, it will be another muted celebration for the monarch, who most likely won’t see the wider family – including a new arrival, Zara and Mike Tindall’s baby boy, Lucas.

A socially distanced meeting with one part of her family may still happen in castle grounds, but with the Prince in his fragile state of health, it is doubtful the Queen would want to risk him being outdoors for too long.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall have spent the majority of lockdown in their picturesque residence, Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, and it is expected that they, too, will remain there, enjoying a typical Easter lunch of lamb and roast potatoes – perhaps from the Duchy Organics food range Charles founded.

As for the Cambridges, they have left London and attended the traditional Sunday service at Windsor Castle with the Queen and other Royals in past years, a wonderful moment for locals to catch a glimpse of Kate, William and their children.

But last year, Covid put paid to that, and the family spent their lockdown Easter at their country home Anmer Hall, in Norfolk

– with their mischievous trio, Prince George, seven, Princess Charlotte, five, and Prince Louis, now two.

It is likely, given restrictions, they will leave London and return to Norfolk for the Easter school holidays.

But wherever they spend Easter Sunday, it is likely the Cambridge family will indulge in a bit of a cook-off.

Asked once about cooking with a young George, his mum replied: ‘ When I try to do this with George at home, chocolate and golden syrup goes everywhere. He makes so much mess. It’s chaos.’

But fun, too, we’re certain – there will most surely be chocolate eggs a-plenty and Easter egg hunts laid on for the Royal tots, in their spacious grounds.

Let’s just hope this time next year, those family get-togethers we once took for granted will be back for good.
