Katie Price could face jail time – if she misses her upcoming bankruptcy hearing…
She’s certainly never been one for the quiet life. And the latest drama in the life of former glamour model Katie Price is the revelation that she risks jail time if she fails to attend her next bankruptcy hearing.
The 43-year-old star is set to return to court, in order to negotiate her debt – which is said to be as high as
£3.2 million.
Katie is currently away on her fourth holiday within two months, with two of her children, Harvey and Princess, and her fiancé Carl Woods, 31, sunning herself on
St Lucia in the Caribbean.
But her bankruptcy is rumbling on – and the reality star could be found in contempt of court if she fails to appear without prior notification to the judge in her case and that can carry a jail sentence.
Katie was declaired bankrupt back in November 2019 for failing to pay £12,000 a month to her creditors, after taking out an IVA (individual voluntary arrangement).
Her bankruptcy was then extended in November 2020 in order to allow extra time for her to earn the money to pay her debts. Katie, who once had a fortune estimated at £45 million, managed to avoid bankruptcy back in August 2019, when she was given only 12 weeks to rectify the issue – but failed to stave off financial ruin. Now the reality star is set to appear at her next court hearing in October either in person or via video-link – but she must attend or face possible jail time.
Despite her recent financial struggles, Katie has said she’s enjoying bankruptcy, declaring, ‘Anyone who has ever been in my life before has tried to take from me, financially mostly. Now they can’t, as I’m in a bankruptcy – and I love it.’
But despite this fiscal headache, Katie is busy planning her fourth wedding, to Carl.
She has teased fans to ‘expect the unexpected’ for the ceremony, with plans that have ‘never been seen before’.
Perhaps she means not as costly as the other three…
