GSX R750 autumn
Making the most of the gorgeous autumn weather and bike with ‘Mr Gixxer’ himself
JUST GOT BACK from one of the best rides I’ve had this year but I’m as miserable as sin. The reason being it just maybe the last one for 2016. Worse than that, my accomplice – Suzuki’s GSX-R750 – is discontinued in 2017. It was one of those sunny, crisp autumn days that not even Disney could recreate. Sun streaking through trees, leaves being thrown in the air as I hurtled towards a low setting sun on the road from Wansford to Kings Cliffe in Northamptonshire. I turned right at Kings Cliffe heading towards my favourite bends, and then turned round to do them over and over again. I was due back in work after a photoshoot but the buzz of bunking off was adding fuel to the fire. This all sounds familiar, the biggest biking cliché ever but it happened and it felt good – the reason we ride motorcycles. Would this have been the same on any other bike? Maybe. But the screaming GSX-R was the perfect tool for the job. The power is intoxicating and that exhaust note is my devilish side whispering in my ear to go faster. Should have worn earplugs though. When I eventually got back to ‘work’ (embarrassingly late) I was shouting at everyone.
