Winter racing in Oz
WSB legend Troy Bayliss is looking to take over the running of the Australian Superbike Championship with a view to staging it in the traditional off-season and that could be a genius idea. Holding the series during British wintertime would mean riders or team members from the UK, and other countries, could feasibly race in two championships – and spend the winter in Australia! Troy would also be able to get better TV and media coverage because there going Series They wouldon. down used be underto no race otherin the the racing Swannearly ’80s and British that and worked American well, riderswith lots takingof part. The World Endurance Championship has just done the same thing and will now race through the winter months with the series climaxing at the Suzuka 8Hour in July. The idea is the same – to get more TV and media coverage and more star riders taking part. The good thing about racing over winter is that if you do get injured you’ll have lots of time to recover before your main Championship kicks off in spring.
