Did Ducati pick the wrong man?

I can’t help thinking that Ducati have chosen the wrong man to partner Jorge Lorenzo in Motogp in 2017. Yes, Andrea Iannone has made some silly mistakes this year but he’s fast, he’s charismatic, and I just feel he’s been a better rider this year than Andrea Dovizioso. I’m a bit of a sucker for exciting, loose riders like Iannone. Dovi is smooth and reliable and he won in Malaysia recently, but I’ve always found his results slightly disappointing in the big class. He was handier on 125s and 250s. You know with Lorenzo that you’re going to get a really classy, silky smooth rider so why not partner him with a loose, exciting rider to have all bases covered? Maybe Ducati think he’s just a bit too loose.
