Carl Fogarty: ‘It just flew’

-

Foggy won the Glemseck 101 Sprint in Germany back in August, like he was supposed to. ‘I did absolutely zero practice because I couldn’t make it to testing. My Swiss team-mate changed the gearing a bit, I think. Then I was in Germany and on the line. I drew Maria Costello in the first round and I just went on from there to the final. Not one race was even close for me. There were some proper trick BMWS there and all sorts, but the Triumph just flew off the start. My team-mate was really nervous, poor bloke, and he went out in his first race. I felt really sorry for him – he was gutted. I was just laughing my head off all day, it was all a bit of fun really. But with lots of people there, though. ‘I’ve always got off the line well – even in schoolboy motocross I had good reactions and I don’t think I’ve lost them yet. If you mess the start up in this sprint game you’re not getting anything back. I was just gone. I really enjoyed it.’
