Magic Motor Experience

Just two hours flying time from the UK Scandinavia is all about big forests, mountains, fjords and fabulous traffic-free dirt trails that go on, and on, and on…

-

SCANDINAVIA IS BIG but the population is small, it also has some of the best scenery in the world which makes it ideal for motorcycling. And of course, because you are going on holiday Magic Motor Experience makes it as easy as we can for you to have the very best time. We´ve criss-crossed Scandinavia many times in order to link the best roads and trails, all you have to do is pack your riding kit, get on a plane and leave the rest to us. We stay at the best hotels and everything is included except drinks at dinner…

Why choose Magic Motor for your 2018 trip?

Magic Motor Experience have been running Scandinavian tours for six years. We started the business because we wanted to show the world how good riding in Scandinavia can be. We hail from the countryside and grew up by a gravel road, and because there are so many great gravel trails here that’s what we wanted Magic Moto Experience holidays to focus on. That said we do also use tarmac when we have to. The bikes we use are Yamaha XT660RS and they are the best bikes for our kind of trips.

Guided or self-guided?

We run guided tours because we care about our guests, and our tours always include an experienced off-road tour guide. The groups we put together are small which means the riding can be tailored to suit individual needs, and we can reset the sat-nav if you want a break from gravel roads and prefer to ride tarmac instead, or if you want to ride at a different pace. We have a support vehicle that accompanies each tour, carrying all luggage and spare parts/tools. But more importantly it also serves the famous Swedish ‘fika’ or coffee break while lunch is usually a picnic or restaurant. The route covers different areas every day and stops at a different hotel each evening. Our staff meet you at the airport the day before we start to ride and accompany you to the hotel and take care of you until you pass through departure security at the end of your holiday.

When to go?

The best time to visit Scandinavia is late spring onwards. We run tours from May until September when the weather is ideal for riding and if you want the long days with just a few hours of night, June and July are best.

The best roads…

It depends what kind of riding you like, but there are plenty of alternatives in Scandinavia. There’s the scenic option where Norwegian roads descend hundreds of meters down mountainsides to gorgeous fjords below. Then there are the loose gravel forest roads which wind, rise and fall and are almost devoid of other traffic. Here you’ll find rhythm and control, bike and rider acting as one. You’ll be tested too, getting close to your limit when that narrow gravel road decides to turn just as you open the throttle and hit a hump, the rear tyre floating out to the right. You’ll think you are in heaven and this goes on for miles. If you are an experienced road/ off-road rider Scandinavia is the place.

Photo opportunities ahoy…

Our favourite stops are often beside lakes and fjords.

Things to do off the bike?

There is, of course, lots to do off the bike. Some of the hotels we use have spas or, if you are feeling more active there’s clay pigeon shooting, speed boat fjord tours, canoeing and more.

What’s the nightlife like?

Most of the tour’s hotels are in remote locations so evenings revolve around good meals, wine, beer and the company of old and new friends. (drinks at the hotels are not included).

What about the food?

Swedish breakfasts leave nobody hungry. Expect buffets offering: continental breakfast; omelette; sausages; bacon; yogurts, bread, fruit, coffee, tea and juices. For Swedish Fika (think coffee break) we serve coffee or tea, water, buns and biscuits. Lunch we eat at a restaurant if accessible, or we picnic in the middle of nature. Dinner is always at least a two-course menu created with delicious Swedish local ingredients often with fish or meat – if you are vegetarian please let us know so we can arrange your meals. All meals are included.

Are there any bike shows or races to go to?

Almost certainly. Check with us regards your specific dates.

What are the locals like?

Most Scandinavians speak English, they are also curious, friendly and easy going.

What about Wi-fi?

Every hotel we use has free wifi.

How much does it cost?

Price start at 1540 euros for a four day adventure, 2450 euros for a seven day adventure, 3970 euros for ten day adventure in Sweden and 4050 euros for Scandinavia.
