MANY YEARS AGO after their first visit, Bike magazine named New Zealand ‘Motorcycle Heaven’. There is nothing flat or straight here, the Romans never got here, the roads are amazing, bend after bend and every type of corner you can think of, and I can’t think of one that tightens on you! It’s all the most scenic parts of the world brought together in two islands a bit bigger than Great Britain. Think of your 68 million population take 63 million away and that’s summer in NZ. There is no traffic to speak of away from the main centres of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. We have volcanoes and snow-capped mountains, we have a desert and 3000 glaciers we have bubbling mud and ski-fields, we have thousands of fantastic beaches and endless summers to go with them, we have birds that exist nowhere else on this planet, and we have some of the friendliest people in the world, most of whom are very proud of where they live, and very grateful to you for travelling to see it.

Why choose Paradise Motorcycle Tours NZ for your 2018 motorcycling adventure?

Paradise Motorcycle Tours was born in 2008 to provide top quality motorcycle tours of New Zealand. Five years ago, we were proud to be invited to become the only BMW Motorrad approved travel partner based in New Zealand. In 2016 and 2017 we won the Luxury Travel Guide Award for best motorcycle tour company in Asia and Australasia. We have focussed on road tours in New Zealand and the European Alps. Our reviews and the fact that Henry Cole chose to tour with us in 2016 prove that we have achieved our goal of providing exactly what you want when you are on holiday, which is the best bikes, best routes, best riding, great hotels and superb food. We are always striving to improve, so now we only offer motorcycles that are less than two years old and top of the range. No-one else in New Zealand does this. We provide guided tours with a lead rider and a support vehicle. Pillion passengers can choose to ride in the support vehicle at any time they wish. We often have riders with partners who don’t want to ride, and they can spend the whole tour in the support vehicle. They then have their own tour guide, which gives them a very exclusive tour of New Zealand. We have won multiple consecutive Certificates of Excellence from Tripadvisor with predominantly 5-star reviews. It’s where we live, we are the Kiwi experts!

Guided or self-guided?

Guided tours are run in January, February and March, which is summer in New Zealand. Self-guided tours, where we programme the best motorcycle roads into a GPS, book your accommodation and provide a comprehensive tour book that tells you where to stop for the best photos, best cafés, best toilets, and excellent restaurant for an evening dinner, can be arranged at any time from October to May. Motorcycle rental is available for those who want to find their own way and enjoy the freedom of the open road. We have bases in Auckland and Christchurch, and you can start and finish your Kiwi adventure in either. We have also recently opened new premises in Queenstown, and after researching for several years we now have guided and self-guided road tours, starting and finishing in Queenstown.

When to go?

We ride all year round, but July and August are ski season in the central plateau of the North Island and the Southern Alps. Realistically summer is December, through March, and April is magic with its autumn colours and snow on the mountain tops. October and November are spring with all the new life and the many wild flowers.

The best roads…

There are too many to choose from its impossible to say, the South Island is more dramatic, there are amazing roads to ride in the North Island. It’s very much down to personal preference.

Photo opportunities ahoy…

We have had people take 6000 images on tour, the scenery is stunning.

Things to do and see…

There are hundreds of things to do. Favourites are helicopter trips around Mount Cook with a landing on the glacier, the Shotover Jet (think jet boat in river canyons) throwing yourself off of high places tied to elastic, the luge in Queenstown and Rotorua, Milford Sound Cruise, sky diving, whale watching…

What’s the nightlife like?

Excellent in Auckland, Wellington and Queenstown.

What to eat and drink?

Food is amazing as is the local wine. Most vegetables are locally grown, and are seasonal. Fish has just come out of the ocean, lamb and beef, what can I say, so succulent, and restaurants have excellent options for specific dietary requirements.

Are there any bike shows or races to go to?

There are street races in Paeroa, Nelson, Whanganui and various locations around the country in the summer, there is a Burt Monro Festival in Invercargill in February and there are great exhibitions and bike museums around the country.

What are the locals like?

The friendliest people in the World.

What about Wi-fi?

Available nearly everywhere.

How much does it cost?

Guided from NZ$8390 Self- guided from NZ$3800 Rental from NZ$175 per day
