Deals on wheels

It seems old-school biking continues to be cool. Luckily it also seems that going retro can mean you get old-fashioned pricing too…

£1500 saving Motoguzzi V7 III

The legendary Italian factory nailed it with the V7. Its appearance, character and ride – not to mention that desirable badge – hit the nail on the head. Plenty of that ‘authenticity’ that’s oh-soimportant in this part of the market, too. There are usually deals on Guzzi models, though Arnolds Motorcycles in Leicester (0116 464 6046) have the best one yet. List for the cast-wheel V7 III Stone variant is £7999, but they have a spanker at £6499. Not pre-reg or anything, either. That’s a deal, is that.

£800 saving Honda CB1100EX

Honda’s official list price of £9799 is remarkable enough, given the refinement, usability and standout quality of their smooth 1140cc four. And yet there are still cracking deals to be had. Thunder Road (01656 333062) are turfing out brand new, unregistered CBS for £8999. They’ve got the same saving on the sportier cast-wheel RS version too, making it yours for just £9199. Don’t buy a Bonneville without testing either of these charming Hondas first.

£800 saving Kawasaki W800

With its great-looking bevel cam-drive, peashooters, traditional lines and period stance, Kwak’s side-by-side twin is surely the most convincing of all retros. Pop a period-style pressed aluminium numberplate on and you’ll fool most folk. Getting the judges in a twist at the local classic show is cheaper than it should be, too. Official price for the modest thrumming Kwak is £8499, yet Corby Kawasaki have box-fresh W800s at £7690. They’re 2019 models, sure, but nobody will give two hoots.

£200saving Royal Enfield Interceptor

At £5699 the Interceptor is the best-value bike of modern times. Remember when we thought a Suzuki Bandit 600 was cheap? Apply inflation to the Bandit’s ’90s price, and it’d be £800 more than Enfield’s twin here in 2020. Despite being the UK’S bestselling naked last year (and the second best-selling bike overall, after the omnipresent GS) there’s still haggle room. Bob Minion (01332 325722) have started the ball rolling with a couple of hundred knocked off theirs.
