Richa Extreme GTX £129.99 nevis.uk.com º I’ve had these yonks. They’re not the thickest but work well from sunny spring days through to late-summer blasts. Thin enough for feel and insulated enough for unexpected chills. 100% waterproof too. No issues with the lining pulling out on sweaty July days either. The cuffs are lengthy, so they take some squeezing inside sleeves, but that’s about my only grumble. There’s now an Extreme 2 GTX (£139.99) so you’ll find these for £119. MA Ducati Strada C3 £129.99 ducati.com º These gloves are made for Ducati by Rev’it and have a nice list of features: CE certified, rigid knuckles, Goretex so waterproof and breathable they’re not insulated, but have a clever liner so are warm enough for cool days and OK as the thermometer climbs too. The best bit is that they are fantastically comfortable (for me), and they aren’t bulky. Now discontinued, some online sellers still have stock. HW Dainese Ergotour Goretex £159.95 dainese.com º These are waterproof, windproof and have a small amount of insulation – just enough to stop my fingers going white on autumnal mornings, but not so much that they give that muffled feel on the throttle and brake of a winter glove. With handguards and heated grips I’ve even used them on winter days. They’re pricey, but well made and you’ll use them a lot. This model has now been discontinued, but the Universe Gore-tex gloves are much the same. JW Alpinestars SPZ Drystar £110 º At first they feel like summer gloves but slightly thicker. Full grain leather with their Drystar membrane. Your hands do stay dry but after a few hours in extreme rain they get damp. Go for a bigger size when buying, they come up really snug. Should you buy them ? No. Instead search ebay for Alpinestars’ 365 Gore Tex gloves. They were perfection: waterproof, protective and with heated grips could be worn all year long. PL
