Parrot decline cause for concern

A census conducted last year by the Loro Parque Fundacion has confirmed that the Vineaceous-breasted Amazon, a South American parrot species, is endangered. Although the 3,133 birds recorded by the survey team exceeded Birdlife International’s previous estimation of 2,650 individuals, the population is still very reduced and fragmented, causing concerns for the survival of the species.
