KEY POINTS

1Check Mereville-franceville bird hide in summer for breeding and passage waders, plus Little Terns and Sandwich Terns. Kittiwakes, Peregrines and Fulmars pass from US Rangers bird colony at Pointe du Hoc, further west.

2Check from the hides for breeding Bluethroats, Nightingales, Zitting Cisticolas, Savi’s Warblers, Spoonbills, Cattle and Great Egrets, plus Marsh Warblers, which all breed here. Spoonbills have also nested nearby.

3Head east to the Dives estuary, where Black Kite has nested and big numbers of shrikes nest.
