Bird Watching (UK)

WAYMARKERS

-

Park at the public car park opposite the toilet block. Check the Bay of Skaill for divers, auks and gulls.

12Walk along the shore checking for waders. You walk onto the Brae so you can scan the living quarters of this amazing site.

3Carry on along the coast passing a small Arctic Tern colony by the shore. Remember these birds are Schedule 1 (additional protection) so give them a wide berth. You will find other birds breeding in summer.

The geology here is amazing, but don’t go too close to the edge. There is a lot of wind erosion inland, but look out for the flora which includes Scottish Primrose here.

4Cross over to the Loch and walk back via the road viewing the breeding waders and water birds.
