SWALLOW ATTRACTION

Swallows from different parts of the world have different views on what is attractive, a study led by the University of Colorado Boulder has shown. Female Swallows on both sides of the Atlantic seem to prefer a male with darker red feathers. But when it came to tails, American males with longer steamers left the females cold, whereas the same trait was seen as desirable by those Swallows who spent the summer in Israel. The results could shed some light on the mechanics of speciation.
