1 Scan the bay from the seal wall for Red-throated Diver, Great Crested Grebe, Common Scoter and the chance of an auk, plus Rock Pipit, Turnstone, Ringed Plover, Redshank, Dunlin, Sanderling and Oystercatcher along the foreshore. 2 From the bridge, scan the grazing marshes for flocks of Lapwing, Golden Plover and Curlew, plus Grey Heron, Little Egret, Snipe, Water Rail and Green Sandpiper along the drainage ditches. 3 Another good spot to check for feeding waders and grazing wildfowl is along the banks of Wallers’ Haven, plus flocks of corvids, Stock Dove, winter thrushes and gulls, and passing Short-eared Owl. 4 The bushes and small wood attracts roving tit flocks that may harbour a Goldcrest, Chiffchaff or Blackcap. Great Spotted Woodpecker, Treecreeper, Redwing and Fieldfare are also likely among common tits, thrushes and finches.
