Highlights

The main rare bird news for August was, of course, the continued presence of the potential first for the UK, the Purple Gallinule (or Swamphen) at Minsmere, Suffolk, which was discovered on 31st July. It stayed until the 5th, before presumably venturing its way to north Lincs at the end of the month.
