HIGHLIGHTS:

A Spotted Sandpiper was at Sutton Bingham Reservoir (4th-8th). The two Glossy Ibises commuted between Shapwick Heath and Ham Wall all month. Great White Egrets peaked at 17 at Shapwick Heath (31st). Single Ospreys were at Shapwick Heath (from 10th) and Sutton Bingham Reservoir (30th-31st). A Red Kite was over Steart Marshes (21st). Two Black Terns were at Shapwick Heath (16th); another Black Tern and a Common Tern were there (23rd). Four Black Terns and two Common Terns passed Berrow and two Black Terns and five Arctic Terns flew past Stert Point (all 20th). Strong winds (21st) produced eight Storm Petrels and a Pomarine Skua off Burnham, two Storm Petrels, three Arctic Skuas and two Black Terns off Stert Point, and four Storm Petrels off Minehead. Two Sandwich Terns were at Berrow (28th). Single Yellow-legged Gulls were noted at the Axe Estuary (9th), the Brue Estuary (27th) and Sutton Bingham Reservoir (28th). Waders included varying numbers of Curlew Sandpipers and Little Stints at sites around Bridgwater Bay, three Wood Sandpipers at Steart Marshes (13th; one to 14th), a Wood Sandpiper (17th-24th) and a Little Stint (28th) at Ham Wall, and a scattering of Green and Common Sandpipers, Greenshank­s and Ruff inland.
