One tends to think of moth-trapping being at its richest on balmy midsummer nights. While that is true in terms of quantity of moths captured, autumnal quality can actually be greater. One of October’s standout moths is the enchantingly named Merveille du Jour, which means, roughly, ‘the best thing I’ve seen all day’. Though, of course, it is active at night.
